In an increasingly dynamic and technology-driven business environment, organizations must continuously improve their internal processes to remain competitive. Business Process Innovation (BPI) has emerged as a strategic approach that enables firms to redesign and optimize operational activities, improve efficiency, reduce costs, and create value for customers. Unlike incremental process improvements, BPI involves significant changes to organizational workflows, technologies, and management practices. This review paper examines the concept of business process innovation and its contribution to achieving sustainable competitive advantage. It explores key drivers of process innovation, implementation strategies, enabling technologies, organizational benefits, and challenges faced during transformation. The paper also highlights the role of leadership, organizational culture, and digital technologies in supporting successful innovation initiatives. The findings suggest that organizations adopting business process innovation achieve improved operational performance, greater customer satisfaction, stronger innovation capability, and enhanced long-term sustainability.
